Bromcom reports 21% increase in revenue

Bromcom Computers, the privately owned provider of a cloud-based MIS for schools, has reported an EBITDA of £5.1m for the year ended 31 December 2025 (2024: £4.9m), on revenue up 21% to £38.2m (2024: £31.6m). Excluding revenue from software development services of £8.6m sold to a related party (Frontline Technology Ltd) in FY25 (2024: £7.3m), Bromcom’s core MIS business grew revenue 21% to £29.5m in FY25 (2024: £24.4m).

Deferred revenue fell 7% to £10.8m at 31 December 2025 (2024: £11.6m) and the company had net cash of £7.9m at the year-end (2024: £3.7m).

The increase in Bromcom’s core MIS revenue in FY25 reflects the company’s success in winning contracts with multi-academy trusts and local authorities who are switching from legacy MIS systems, principally SIMS, owned by ParentPay Group.

At the end of December 2025, Bromcom’s share of the MIS market in state schools in England, as analysed by Josh Perry’s bringmoredata.blogspot, had increased five percentage points to 16% (2024: 11%), with SIMS market share of schools down 13 percentage points to 31% (2024: 44%). In the same period, The Key Group (Arbor Education) overtook SIMS to become the market leader with a 51% share, up 8 percentage points from the prior year (2024: 43%).

Measured by pupil numbers, Bromcom’s market share in state schools in England at the end of December 2025 was even higher, up five percentage points from the prior year at 20% (2024: 15%), with The Key Group up seven percentage points to 44% (2024: 37%) and SIMS down 13 percentage points to 34% (2024: 47%).

The company is also providing its cloud-based school MIS platform to Northern Ireland’s 1,100 schools and other education settings as part of the Education Authority’s Education Information Solutions (EdIS) programme. The platform is being rolled out to all schools in phases, with the full transition expected to be complete by March 2027.

Bromcom has also secured six contracts with local authorities in Wales, most recently adding the Isle of Anglesey County Council and its 44 schools to the company’s roster of Welsh contracts.

Overall, Bromcom says its MIS platform is currently supporting over 5,600 schools in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, including more than 390 MATs.

The average monthly number of staff employed by the company increased 20% to 231 in FY25 (2024: 193), reflecting the increase in the number of schools adopting its cloud-based MIS platform and the company scaling up of its delivery capability in readiness for growth moving forward. The company also engaged 74 contractors in FY25 (2024: 69).

Founded in 1986 by Ali Guryel, Bromcom launched the UK’s first cloud-based MIS for schools in 2011. Commenting on the outlook for the business, at a time when the UK MIS market is receiving the attention of private equity firms, Ali Guryel said: “The company's strong and profitable trading, robust balance sheet and excellent market position have allowed the company to follow its own agenda and focus on growth in the key strategic areas.
