Tribal acquires HELM

publication date: Jul 1, 2008
author/source: Ed Tranham

Tribal has paid £15.1m for a 72% stake in Northern Ireland-based HELM Corporation with an option to acquire the balance from 2011. HELM provides management and financial consultancy services to the public sector in the UK and internationally. Much of HELM's international work – 60% of its £14.7m revenues – is associated with long-term development projects with major international donor organisations, such as the World Bank, EU and the Department for International Development. The acquisition is seen by Tribal as adding new professional services competencies to the business and supporting the international growth of Tribal.

Last year HELM was contracted by the DCSF to provide an external assessment to all secondary schools in the London Borough of Lewisham against the Department’s financial management standard.

Tribal has also announced the appointment of Andy Field as group chief operating officer and Stephen Harris as international development director. Andy Field joins Tribal from Fujitsu and Stephen Harris from International Financial Services.
