7.8% rise in number of applications to UK universities

The number of applicants for full-time undergraduate courses at UK universities and colleges is up 7.8% to 481,784 on the same point last year.
Law remains the preferred subject choice followed by psychology, regaining its traditional second place from pre-clinical medicine which in turn falls to third.
