RM has paid £1m cash for a 25% stake in Inclusive Technology Limited, a supplier of special educational needs (SEN) and early years products. This investment complements RM’s recent acquisitions of Special Direct and SpaceKraft, which both operate within the SEN market segment. Inclusive Technology recorded revenues of £5.4m and an adjusted operating profit of £480k in the year ending June 2007.

Inclusive Technology supplies SEN software, computer access devices, communication aids and assistive technology for learners with physical disabilities, sensory impairments or learning difficulties.

RM’s investment reflects the drive for improved SEN facilities for new and refurbished schools within the BSF programme. For Inclusive Technologies, having a minority investor with the muscle of RM should help move key resources away from BSF bidding and back into product development.
