Kathleen Tattersall has been appointed by the DCSF as the first chair of Ofqual, the new regulator of qualifications and examinations. Ofqual will act as the independent guardian of standards across the qualifications, tests and exam system in England. Ms Tattersall is currently the chair of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors and until 2003 was director-general of AQA.
