Lagardère SCA, the French media group which owns Hodder Headline in the UK through its Hachette Livre division, increased global revenues by 8.5% to €8.58bn (£6.55bn) for the year just ended. This was in part due to its acquisition of Time Warner Book Group. Sales were particularly robust in the UK, driven by a raft of successful fiction and non-fiction titles.

Speaking recently to the Bookseller, Arnaud Nourry, Hachette Livre’s CEO admitted that he was looking to buy a UK educational publisher since their UK presence is ’more modest’ than in other sectors. Given recent consolidations in the UK education publishing sector it would be interesting to know which educational publisher M Nourry is stalking.
