While BBC jam may have passed its sell by date, the BBC won’t be abandoning its plans for world domination of the education market just yet. With the blood barely dry on the floors of jam’s offices in Wood Lane, the BBC were already advertising for a Head of Interactive Learning, to deliver ‘our learning strategy through producing media-rich content and connecting with our audiences via IP network distribution and the power of interactivity’.
Commercial providers will watch carefully to see whether this vacancy ends up being filled by an ex-jam staffer. If it is then we expect they will make their displeasure known to the BBC Trust in no uncertain terms. The winner will initially be based in central London, but will likely end up in ‘the BBC’s new media hub’ in Salford, courtesy of the BBC North project.
