The tender for the continuation of Teacher’s TV has been doing the rounds. As part of the research we do into each story we have been perusing the Board Minutes for the six months prior to April. Hardly thrilling reading, but there are two interesting highlights. The first is that Caroline Wright, the DfES’s Director of Communications, who is a Board Observer, has not attended a single monthly meeting since November 2006. Perhaps Wright is too busy trying to manage the transition from the Blair to Brown spin machine? Probably, but given the importance of the tender, the Board should consider appointing someone with relevant skills who will actually turn up. Second, each month the Board refers to its ‘DfES report’, which includes ‘commercial development’, but no details are ever included in the minutes. A shame really.
