Last year we lambasted the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) for wasting £15k and management time on developing their Workforce Boredom Index. It looks as if we were right after a Minister was forced to admit in parliament that the number of new teachers had been exaggerated. Labour had been trumpeting that there were 36,200 new teachers, whereas after taking teachers leaving the profession and retirement into account, the number is actually just 3100! An improvement certainly, but not much of an achievement when the DfES probably employed as many new bureaucrats over the same period.
