After months of speculation, Metrix have been announced as the clear winner of the Defence Training Review. They are the Preferred Bidder for Package One (training for engineering and communications) and the Provisional Preferred Bidder for Package Two (training for logistics, security, policing and administration). The champagne corks will have been popping at Metrix members QinetiQ, Land Securities Trillium, AugustaWestland, Dalkia, EDS, Laing O'Rourke, Nord Anglia Education, The Open University, Raytheon, Serco and Sodexho.

This is also a huge win for Wales with the new tri-service Defence Training campus to be constructed at St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan. John Smith the local MP was quoted in the Western Mail praising Metrix Chief Executive Mike Hale. ‘He has a track record of delivering on time and on budget.’ The final contracts for both packages are due to be signed sometime in 2008, followed by a five-year transition that will see Metrix take over full responsibility around 2013.
