At the end of September, VT released a half-year trading statement which highlighted that their education division was not trading as profitably as had been anticipated and that this was primarily due to changes in funding arrangements from the Learning and Skills Council plus the higher costs of bidding for projects. VT try to put a positive spin on the situation by pointing out that they hope to close a BSF deal in Greenwich imminently. But the ‘higher costs’ they refer to as a factor in holding back the performance of VT Education are probably those incurred in bidding for BSF work in the first place.
