The UNESCO World Book Day took place in the UK on March 2nd thanks to sponsorship from National Book Tokens, part of the Booksellers Association. Participating schools received packs with £1 book tokens that students could redeem for one of six special World Book Day books or against a book or audio book (at a participating retailer). This is a smart scheme which has a significant impact on reading and literacy and so really deserves more support (and sponsorship) from industry, who are after all the ultimate beneficiaries of a literate workforce.
