This month saw the Delivering Schools for the Future conference, delivered by GovNet Communications.

This was a very interesting event with speakers including Mukund Patel, Head of the DfES Buildings and Design Unit, Martin Lipson, Schools Director P4S, Dame Mary Richardson, Chief Executive of the HSBC Education Trust and many others. The only drawback was the cost. For those from the government sector registration was just £99, but for those of us in the private sector the fees started at £695 (plus VAT). Now perhaps to those at GovNet a cost differential of six time seems insignificant but we know several companies interested in attending who baulked, not at the cost but at the cost differential.

Perhaps it would be cheaper to try and get on the list of speakers? Is this why the new CEO of the School Food Trust was listed as a keynote speaker at an event primarily about construction?
