Companies are waiting with anticipation for Partnerships for Schools to announce the BSF Wave 3 Local Authorities. With funding of £2.2b in 2005/6 the scope of BFS has seen many development, construction and design companies set up project teams to bid for work. Partnerships for Schools has been created specifically to manage the private sector’s involvement in the procurement and delivery at a local level (via Local Area Partnerships - LEP’s) of the national programme.
P4S recently released a three-year business plan whose major objectives over the next 12 months include closing the first LEP deal and improving links with the Academies programme (see below). This document also estimates that only £1b p.a. worth of schemes is intended to be delivered through use of private finance.
