In a worrying sign for the government, Global Education Management and charity Absolute Return for Kids (ARK), have withdrawn their offers of sponsorship for three Academies to be developed in Milton Keynes and Islington. Whilst each organisation cited different reasons, their actions are a worrying repeat of Jasper Conran’s decision to withdraw his sponsorship of a proposed Academy in East London. All three sponsors and the relevant local councils have been the targets of well-coordinated campaigns, led by local parents and education unions.
