The outsourcing of educational management services is being targeted by at least two UK companies. VT Education have a joint venture with Surrey County Council called VT 4S Limited. 4S has a £100m, seven-year contract to supply support services to Surrey LEA, with the option of an eight year extension. 4S’s ownership is split with VT owing 80.1% and Surrey County Council 19.1% - the maximum holding allowed for a local authority.
A similar venture is EduAction the joint venture between Amey and Nord Anglia that provides a variety of educational services to the Waltham Forest LEA (until 2006). EduAction have recently appointed Ms Arizo Shepherd to the position of Business Development Manager.
