China’s government has launched a new website offering free study materials and information designed to increase the number of people who are literate in Mandarin.
Learning Chinese is probably the hardest task for any foreign language student, and while the UK undoubtedly needs far more multilingual graduates, the number who will be able to both read and speak Mandarin to an acceptable business level is likely remain very small for some time to come.
