Nord Anglia has appointed Alasdair Marnoch as a non-executive director (he will sit on the Audit Committee). Mr Marnoch is currently Group Finance Director at pension consultants Xafinity. Investor Bryan Myerson (via Principle Capital Partners Limited) is now thought to own over 22% of the scrip of Nord Anglia after several significant transactions.
It’s hard to see what this represents given the large turnover in Nord Anglia shares over the last year. So many companies who have done due diligence on Nord Anglia, this may represent nothing more than a short-term opportunistic investment or it might be a way of flushing out a party interested in making a bid for the company. Or it could even be the precursor to a full-blown takeover of the company. Whichever it turns out to be, investors have reason to be happy with the price of the company’s shares climbing more than 20% from 114p to a high of 142p.
