Here is a quiz and the first correct answer gets some sort of prize. Headhunters, Wood Hamill Executive Search are looking for a Publisher/ Managing Director for an unnamed client. Wood Hamill say their client is a leading educational publisher with newspapers, magazines, websites and exhibitions, the leading market provider of classified advertising for job vacancies in UK schools.

The final clue is that the successful applicant will also need to win respect from the Board and the City. Now it may seem obvious, but that if an applicant didn’t have the Boards’ support, it’s unlikely they would get the job in the first place. Respect in the City is shorthand for, we would like to float the company or to sell it to one of your Hedge Fund/VC clients.

So, to recap, who owns newspapers that are the market leaders in educational job advertisements and whose owners would very much like to raise their profile in the City? Could it be a well-known educational masthead that was recently sold by company controlled by a famous media entrepreneur and purchased by a high profile venture capital firm?
