The new Principal of Westminster College, Robin Shreeve is an Ashes imitator – in that like the old urn, he has just returned to the UK to take up his position in one of London’s most illustrious FE colleges. The former marketing manager of Stevenage College spent 17 years in Australia, most of it working for New South Wales TAFE (Technical and Further Education).

His experience there, of an FE system tightly focused on work-related education and training, has had direct influence already in the UK after he organised a delegation to visit NSW earlier this year. Rather than being a faceless bureaucrat Shreeve decided to return home so that he could have more direct contact with (and we suspect) impact upon students.

This is good news for both the FE and private sectors who will both be hoping that Westminster College will become a model for reform of the FE system.
