Consortia bidding for the new £10b NCO’s tri-service Academy will have to wait until at least this summer before the M.O.D. make any announcement. The consortia bidding for the two parts of the package to run the new facility are Metrix, MC3 and Holdfast.
Political pressure related to this project has been growing since the announcement that two potential sites have been identified - St Athan in South Wales and Cosford in the West Midlands. The stakes are very high with the winner getting a £60m per year boost to their local economy with up to 5700 jobs being created. To try and address these concerns the M.O.D. have developed Regional Socio-Economic Reports as part of their decision making process.
